Playgroup Cancelled

For the next two weeks (Dec. 22rd & 30th), the Issaquah Highlands Playgroup will be cancelled for the holiday. We will pick back up on January 6th. Looking forward to seeing everyone then!

New Playgroup Format

The Issaquah Highlands Playgroup has decided to make a few new changes this fall after a very relaxed summer schedule to provide the children a little more structure and learning opportunity. Each Thursday when we meet we will keep to the following schedule. Each mom can volunteer for a week and theme then provide the craft, snack and book for that session. In addition, we will still have free play mats for children who are too young to participate in some of the activities.

Playgroup has had a slow Summer!!

The Issaquah Highland's playgroup is still meeting on Thursday mornings from 9:30 - 11:00 at the fire station. We hope to have our Tuesday morning time slot back in the fall, but currently play time is very casual. With the warm weather, vacations schedules and parents staying home with school age children the attendance is down, but it is still a fun place for the kids to play and interact with one another. We look forward to having new members join the group, so please come and check it out!

Sponge Welcomes the Highland's Playgroup to
"Bring Your Family to Sponge to Celebrate Food From Around the World!"

Sponge is celebrating the end of summer and beginning of fall with a family-friendly food event! We'll be making our own vegetarian sushi - with fun-shaped nori punch outs! - and guests from Dr. Susanna's World Baby Foods will join us to share samples of organic cuisines from around the world with the littlest of attendees. Kids will also have a chance to enjoy an array of arts and crafts activities, as well as mini language classes in Mandarin, Spanish, French and Japanese. This celebration is free, and we'd love to see you there!

Playgroup is ONLY on Thursdays

We have been unable to secure the Tuesday time slot at the fire station for playgroup, so until further notice, we are only meeting on Thursdays from 9:30 - 11:00. When the weather gets better we will try and plan some Tuesday outside activities. Some families choose to attend Toddler Time at the Issaquah Community Center on Tuesdays as well.

Thursdays Only in April & May!

Due to some scheduling conflicts at the fire station, we have not been able to secure our Tuesday time slot for playgroup, therefore we will only plan on meeting on Thursdays until further notice. On Tuesdays, those who are interested are planning on meeting up at the Toddler Time down at the Issaquah Community center during the same time (9:30 - 11:00). When the weather improves we will most likely meet at parks in the Highlands on Tuesdays. We will continue to work on trying to get our Tuesday time slot back as well.

Athough we are not meeting at the fire station on Tuesdays in March, we still have an exciting month planned with our Thursdays. We are going to celebrate:

-The Indian Festival of Colors Holi: Thursday 4th of March
-The Irish Saint Patrick's Day: Thursday 18th of March
-The Jewish Holiday Passover: Thursday 25th of March


On Tuesdays, during the same time frame as playgroup (9:30 - 11:00) several families are choosing to attend Toddler Time and the Issaquah Community Center. It is $2 per toddler and is a great space for them to run around and have fun.

Tuesday Playgroup Cancelled in March

----------UPDATE----------

Through the month of March playgroup will be cancelled on Tuesdays due to a scheduling conflict at the fire station. We will be meeting on Thursdays throughout the month and will hopefully get back to our Tuesday / Thursday schedule in the month of April.

Celebrating Holi

On Tuesday, March 2nd, some moms in the playgroup are going to coordinate a Holi (Festival of Colors) celebration for the children. There will be a fun activity and some foods to try. Please come and join us!

A big thank you to the moms who helped with our Valentine's Day party and our Chinese New Year celebration. They were both big hits with the kids!

Raise the Dough

Hope on the Hill Guild for Seattle Children's Hospital is hosting their first fundraising event, “Raise the Dough,” on Tuesday, February 23rd at Zeeks Pizza in the Issaquah Highlands. Twenty percent of all sales made during business hours (11 a.m. to 10 p.m.) will go toward supporting uncompensated care, so all children receive medical treatment, regardless of their ability to pay. Be sure to mention “Guild” if you are placing a delivery order.

Sponge Presentation

On Tuesday, January 28th, the Issaquah Highlands Playgroup will have a Sponge class at the playgroup. The class will be in Spanish, Mandarin or French.

Come Join the Fun!

The Issaquah Highlands Co-opPlaygroup meets at the Issaquah Highlands Fire Station on Tuesday and Thursday mornings from 9:30-11:00 am. The group is open to Babies and Toddlers up to years old, as well as their parents and caregivers who reside within the Issaquah Highlands community. Our goal for the group is to allow the children to socialize and play with other neighbors while providing a forum for discussion of relevant parenting-related topics. Toys and supplies are shared/donated by Co-op members, so please bring a toy to share while you join us.

If you are familiar with mom's of mulitiples sales, this is like that, but not so huge and crazy and higher quality stuff, and you don't have to be a mom of multiples to participate!
